Witchcraft IS MAGIC
Question.
Assalamu, Crew Assunnah, may we always be blessed of God Almighty. I want to ask, in the view of Islam whether witchcraft exists? Can people affected by witchcraft? As happened in Kalimantan, which lately crowded discussed in the mass media is a mother, her stomach a lot of overgrown or out wire. Public assume the person is exposed to witchcraft. Syukran.

Answer.
Witchcraft and the like it there and includes a kind of magic. Because magic as stated by Imam Ibn Qudamah rahimahullah is ties a rope and incantations spoken or written by actor / magician, or he is doing something that is used as a means by witches for help to the devil with the aim of hurting people who bewitched , physical affects bewitched, or heart, or intellect, with no direct contact ". Likewise, the words of al-Alusi rahimahullah: "What is meant by the magic is the odd case that resembles a magic case, but it's not something magical because it can be learned. To get it to draw closer to the devil, by way of case-scandal / bad, in the form of words like spells that contains sentences Shirk, a compliment to the devil and Satan's; Also the form of action, such as the worship of the stars, to his crime, and all wickedness; As well as in the form of beliefs, as well consider something that could bring him closer to the devil and his love to the devil. And magic it is not going well except the people that are in line with the evil demons and abominations soul, suitability or fitness for a condition closer together and help. The Sunni scholars agree that it has the essence and magic is real. Though the Mu'tazilah and the people who are affected by them deny the essence of magic, but their denial is of no value. Among their arguments are:

واتبعوا ما تتلو الشياطين على ملك سليمان وما كفر سليمان ولكن الشياطين كفروا يعلمون الناس السحر وما أنزل على الملكين ببابل هاروت وماروت وما يعلمان من أحد حتى يقولا إنما نحن فتنة فلا تكفر

Therefore, the Companions and the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah agree on the existence of magic. Al-Qurafi rahimahullah said: "Magic and news about the magic has been known by the companions may Allah be pleased with them all-, they agree on the existence of magic before the advent of group Qodariyah (Mu'tazila)". Imam Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah Mu'tazila refuted suggestions that says "Surely the whole magic is just takh-yiil (make something imaginary or unreal)", he rahimahullah said: "This menyelisihi mutawatir narrations from the Companions and Salaf (those righteous ancient times), and has been agreed upon by the jurists, commentators, and the hadith scholars. Then it is appropriate that someone always ask refuge in Allah from all evil, including magic, healing and ask God if the unfortunate illness. Sessungguhnya God is powerful over everything
The news that you say that of a mother's belly covered or out of wire, if the report is true, it could be that black magic or witchcraft may also not. And we need to be careful to declare an event that as witchcraft, or certain people accused of witchcraft. Because if the statement was not true, it means lies and including acts of oppression.
