Question:
What is the ruling of salary obtained by teaching in schools or universities? What is the ruling for a muslim who taught the Christian pupils in schools or universities? For your information, the formal schools in our country admitted both the muslim and non muslim pupils.
The answer issued by the scholars of the Standing Committee:
Firstly, it is allowed for one who taught in schools or universities to get a salary from teaching the religious knowledges, or knowledges that are permissible to learn, such as mathematics, engineering, writing the Arabic fonts, and various skills such as the skill to be a carpenter, blacksmith, the skill of sewing, etc.
Secondly, it is allowed for a muslim to teach in schools which pupils consisted of muslim and non muslim kids, as long as the knowledge he teaches is the knowledge that is permissible to learn in shari’a.

But it is unlawful for anyone by any reason to teach or train the disbelievers knowledges that they might be able to use against the muslims, such as the battling skills, archery, shooting, or other battle skills and materials that supporting it.”
